VOTE!!!!!!!

I encourage anyone who is able to vote to get out and VOTE! Quite simple…..if you don’t VOTE, don’t COMPLAIN…….I remember at an election a couple years ago….I was with my dad, and I was getting a bit huffy with the lack of organization at the poll I was at. I made a comment to my dad about this being a waste of time and why can’t people get their act together. My dad turned to me and smiled and simply said, “You know Shika, there’s people in country's who line up for days just to vote, doesn’t bother them at all, they’re just happy to finally have the opportunity to vote.” Honestly, yes I hate it when dads are right….but he was….EVERY vote counts, and I’m proud to be a Canadian and I’m PROUD to VOTE!

9/11

I woke up early this morning to head down to the pier to take some sunrise pictures for my photography group me and a co worker started. It was a quiet calm morning, the only sound I heard was some ducks and seagulls.

10 years ago today it was a morning much like this one. Fathers and mothers went off to work on a beautiful morning in New York City, people settled into their desks for their daily routine at the world trade center....flight attendants were making passengers comfortable. No one knew what would happen that day.

The world watched in horror at the unspeakable events of September 11, 2001. Everyone remembers where they were and what they did and near or far, whether we were directly affect by the events or not, the whole world understood one thing....life is precious and can be short. Whether our guys put the toilet seats down that morning or our gals nagged throughout breakfast and our kids threw a tantrum, didn't seem to matter that day.

I don't think I'll ever forget that day, nor will the rest of the world....life can be short......cherish those little moments in life....you never know when they may be gone for good

Sundays are My Chill Days

Growing up, Sundays were always a day of rest in my household....things like T.V, taking part in any sports, shopping was not allowed.  Did I like it? No not always....but over the years my family became more relaxed as I got older. There were a few things I adopted myself. I try not to shop on Sundays, nothing to do with religion....I remember working for 4 years at a Tim Hortons and hating working Sundays....I try to avoid making other people work. Since moving to a smaller northern community, the main town is closed on Sundays, there's a few variety stores and restaurants open, but I love it! No need to rush anywhere, just some quality you/family time, which is non existent in most families now.

I tried something different today. We are calling for rain this afternoon but it was a beautiful morning, so I decided to take a nice long walk.....with no cell phone, no mp3 player, just a bottle of water and my keys. I have to say I enjoyed it.....I was able to mentally able to plan out some things, figure out a few other things and get some fresh air.

Take a few moments for you today....it doesn't have to be anything extravagant...could be as simple as a cup of coffee, a family dinner on the porch, a brief walk with the dog, or just a walk to the closest stop sign and back.

Shika Rebecca

I’m always amazed at the changes that can happen in a year. last year at this time I started worked at a cleaning company that cleaned Ferrero Rocher, now I’m back in the field I went to school for. I’ve been working at CJTT FM for the past 5 months as their afternoon drive announcer, and its been a wonderful learning experience!
